The Excitement of Skiing and Fashion Trends
Going skiing is a really exciting holiday, partly because you will be hitting the slopes and partly because of the excitement of rocking the latest skiing trends. The latest skiing fashion could persuade you to go skiing even if you can’t actually ski! Skiing has become massively popular in recent years, with the skiing hot spots including France, America and Switzerland. Once you have booked your skiing holiday, we can guarantee you will be checking out what the latest skiing trends are, so you can rock the slopes.
Here are the latest trends and all the must-have pieces for your skiing holiday.
Coats
A coat is definitely a must-have whilst you are skiing, and the current trends are as bright and as bold as you like. That’s right, bright colours and bold prints are all over this season’s ski coats, making the snow bright and fun. You can opt for either a bright colour, or a funky print, or if you are really confident, you can rock both at the same time. When it comes to ski coats, you might already have a style and thickness that you prefer. If this is your first time buying ski clothes, then go with how you feel when you wear it. You might think you will be cold, but once you get the hang of skiing, you will soon warm up, so it’s important to think about this.
Ski pants
Another obvious must-have is ski pants; they provide you with warmth and protection if/when you take a little stumble on the slopes. Like ski coats, the latest trend for ski pants is bright and colour, meaning you can either match your pants with your coat or you can rock out clashing colours to really bring some fun onto the slopes. When you are looking at ski pants, you want something that is going to be comfortable, a good fit, waterproof and provide you with plenty of movement. Although some of the bright colours are staying for next season, earthy tones are also coming into play, so for those of you wanting to be a little subtle, jungle green, camouflage and burnt orange will be ideal.
TIP: Wearing leggings under your snow pants adds warmth and also means you can take them off if you get a little warm once you are off the slopes.
Jumpers/T-shirts
Layering is a great trick for hitting the slopes, because you can get rid of clothing if you get a little too hot. When it comes to what you wear underneath, knit jumpers are certainly a trend this season. Thinner knits mean you could wear a t-shirt underneath for warmth (DRI-fit t-shirts/vests are ideal, and they work with your temperature). You aren’t going to see your jumper all that much whilst you are skiing, so you are able to either keep it plain or simple, or you can add some extra colour if you wish. Going with sports tops is great because most of them will work with your temperature, but they will also allow plenty of movement. Roll neck knit sweaters have made a particular comeback, and they look cute with some bright snow pants when you hit the bar after the slopes!
Here’s a tip for layering: First, a thin long-sleeved shirts (nike.com) have some great basic ones that work with your temperature. Then a thin knit over the top
Snow boots and Goggles
Snow boots are a must for skiing, and why not make them into a fashion statement? Although earthy tones along with bright colours are the trend for skiing clothes, this isn’t the same for ski boots; in fact, the trend in ski boots currently will add some sparkle to your skiing outfit. The current trend for ski boots is metallic, so you can rock a sparkly silver or gold, and really shine on the slopes. Likewise, you can add some sparkle to the slopes with your goggles; the last trend is seeing crystals being added to ski goggles, bringing lots of glamour to the snow!
Headwear
There are so many different styles of headwear that you can rock on the slopes; so many that you could probably have a different look every day. Earmuffs are hugely popular; fur-lined are the number one on the trend list, bobble hats are also popular; not only will they keep you warm, but there are so many different colours and patterns that they can really bring some extra fun to your skiing outfit. Faux fur is all the rage at the moment, and you can get both headbands and hats; adding fur to your skiing outfit will definitely have you looking like a star on the slopes.
Extras
There are lots of little extras you can add to your skiing outfit; gloves, the brighter the better; you can even add wool fingerless gloves underneath for some extra warmth. Wool knitted socks are certainly a must to keep your feet nice and warm amongst all that snow. For the times when you don’t need your goggles, rocking some bright colours sunglasses is certainly a must; circle frame glasses are also very on trend at the moment if you really want to make a statement. Extra bits for those of you who really feel the cold are thermal vests and tight/leggings that fit perfectly under your outfit, and seen as layers are really in fashion right now, you will be warm and still bang on trend!
